We are proud that our Web pages reflect the bilingual nature of our Region. The Atlantic Region comprises the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador, with over 16,000 members represented by 106 Local Unions.

Large numbers of members are employed in the paper industry, including paper mills, sawmills, production of cardboard boxes, forestry operations and the construction of various types of sheet material and panels. In the communication sector, our members are employed by telephone companies, cable television providers, call centres, newspapers, radio and television stations, and the print media. In the energy sector, the CEP represents workers in refineries, off shore oil and gas drilling, mining, and plastics and chemical plants.

The CEP also represents many workers employed in the textile industry, furniture and prefabricated home manufacturing, gyprock production, sign making and other manufacturing establishments.

In fact, the CEP is the largest industrial union in Atlantic Canada. Our Region has nine National Representatives and three support staff who live and work here. Our National Representatives negotiate collective agreements, train Local Union activists, organize new bargaining units, ensure that the programs, policies and campaigns of our union are effectively carried out and, most importantly, assist CEP Local Unions in providing the best possible service to our members. We have offices in Moncton, Dartmouth and St. John's.

In CEP, we take pride in our diversity and bilingualism, both of which are very much a part of the Canadian fabric. CEP members are active in their communities and, through secure, good paying jobs, our members make a significant contribution to the economic well being of others in their communities as well. Yes, we are proud of what we have achieved for our members at the bargaining table, but we are equally proud of the achievements of our union in advancing the principles of social justice, security and equality, both on the job and in the greater society where, we believe, “an injury to one is truly an injury to all.”
