TORONTO – About 600 employees who provide telephone and television service and installation for residential and commercial customers of Rogers across Ontario, are set to strike June 15th, at 8am.
Their union, the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, has been at the bargaining table with two of the four contractors for more than a year, trying to obtain a first collective agreement. The contractors are Intek Communications Inc., Wirecomm Systems Inc., SC360 Markham Inc. and Dependable Home Tech Scarborough.
TORONTO – The strike by members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada Local 1999 against Reliance Home Comfort has ended with today’s ratification of a new collective agreement.
The 300 CEP workers, who had been on strike since May 2nd, install, repair and service heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment for homeowners throughout Ontario.
CEP Ontario Administrative Vice-President Dave Moffat thanked the members for their solidarity and perseverance during the dispute.

Strike ends at Direct Energy workers ratify new agreement

TORONTO -- Members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada Local 975 narrowly ratified a memorandum of agreement this afternoon.
CEP Ontario Administrative Vice-President Dave Moffat says the members are to be congratulated for maintaining positive morale and solidarity on the picket line during the two-week strike.
TORONTO – Almost 300 members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, who work for Reliance Home Comfort Limited, went on strike at midnight, after their employer took the unusual step of imposing working terms and conditions during the collective bargaining process.
“After our membership voted to reject the company’s offer, Reliance Home Comfort imposed unacceptable working conditions, forcing a strike,” says CEP Ontario Administrative Vice-President Dave Moffat.
